After graduation from Firestone, and I went to Duke University. There I met my wife of 46 years, Frances; we were married right after graduation, and together moved to Indiana where I enrolled in graduate school at Purdue in chemistry. I defended my dissertation in 1976 and joined the faculty of the University of Utah less than a week later. Frances earned her Ph.D. in counseling psychology at the University of Utah, and has worked for the past 30 years in the U Counseling Center and is an adjunct faculty member in Educational Psychology and Psychiatry. In 1989, we had a son, Peter, who went St. Olaf College in Minnesota and graduated 7 years ago; Peter lives in Minneapolis with his partner Edie Overturf. They are both artists, and are headed to Portland this fall. I'm still teaching and running a research group at the University of Utah.

We enjoy life in the west, with countless mountains and canyons to hike and explore. I regret that I can’t make the 50th Reunion. I’m teaching a large undergraduate class and can't miss a lecture.
